In our last blog we wrote about learning to say, “no” to requests so that we can say, “yes” to the things that matter most and in so doing gain better control of our time.
That previous blog illustrated that sometimes a very simple approach can address the situation when we find ourselves too busy.
With that in mind, here are three more quick tips for how to handle more requests, tasks, or people than the time seems to allow:
• Pull away from the crowd to a quiet location (close the door, leave the office, whatever it takes).
• Take time to reflect on your priorities and make a list of everything that can be done by someone other than yourself (even if a bit of training will be necessary).
• Find several capable people who are committed to your mission (employees, or volunteers, depending on the nature of the organization) and delegate everything to them that was listed in the previous step.
Then proceed with the remaining requests, tasks, or people who are best handled by you personally.
Let us know your results as you can – and we will continue to learn together!
